Our course offerings are designed to assist homeschooled middle and high school students in discovering knowledge and skills presented in an easy-to-understand way to provide a foundation for future educational progress and career growth.
Course Overview
This nature studies course introduces students to the natural world through hands-on exploration, observation, and discovery. Students will explore ecosystems, plant and animal life, seasonal changes, weather patterns, and environmental stewardship.
Through nature journaling, outdoor activities, and interactive lessons, students will develop a deeper connection with their local environment. They will learn to observe, inquire, and appreciate the natural world around them. The course encourages curiosity, mindfulness, and an appreciation for biodiversity and conservation.
You Will Be Able to:
Develop Observational Skills: Learn to observe nature closely and record findings through nature journaling and sketches.
Identify Local Flora and Fauna: Be able to recognize and name a variety of local plants, animals, insects, and trees, understanding their role in the ecosystem.
Understand Ecosystems and Biodiversity: Learn how different ecosystems function and why biodiversity is crucial for the planet’s health.
Recognize Seasonal Changes: Observe and document changes in the natural environment across seasons, such as weather patterns, plant growth, and animal behavior.
Practice Conservation Principles: Develop an awareness of environmental stewardship, learn basic conservation practices, and protect natural habitats.
Engage in Hands-On Learning: To gain hands-on experience with ecological principles, participate in activities like building bird feeders, planting native species, and exploring natural habitats.
