Course Overview
This course is designed for beginners and intermediate students who want to develop or refine their drawing skills. The Art of Drawing will cover fundamental concepts such as line, shape, form, perspective, shading, and composition.
Students will work with various drawing mediums, including pencil, charcoal, and ink, and explore different styles and techniques. Through hands-on practice, demonstrations, and critique sessions, students will gain confidence in creating expressive and accurate drawings, from simple sketches to more complex compositions.
The course encourages individual creativity, critical observation, and personal style development.
You Will Be Able to:
Understand and Apply Basic Drawing Techniques: Demonstrate knowledge of fundamental drawing skills, including line, shading, texture, and value.
Develop Skills in Observation and Proportion: Observe and represent subjects accurately by understanding proportion, perspective, and spatial relationships.
Explore and Experiment with Different Drawing Mediums: Gain hands-on experience with materials such as graphite, charcoal, ink, and other drawing tools.
Build Composition and Design Skills: Arrange elements in a drawing to create balanced, dynamic compositions that lead the viewer’s eye.
Cultivate Personal Artistic Expression: Develop a unique style through experimentation with techniques and subject matter.
Understand and Apply Artistic Concepts: Learn about positive and negative space, contrast, and focal points, and integrate these concepts effectively in artwork.
Critique and Reflect on Artwork: Students should participate in constructive critique sessions, where they provide and receive feedback, helping to refine their skills and ideas.
Create a Portfolio of Finished Drawings: Produce a collection of work showcasing progress, skills learned, and personal style development.
